Get On Reality Television Programmes
Advice To Help You Get On Reality Television Programmes such as Wife Swap or Big Brother:
There are many reality television programmes on terrestrial and satellite TV these days. People just can't get
enough of watching ordinary people being put in difficult circumstances such as swapping a wife or husband for two
weeks, living with complete strangers or undergoing extreme conditions such as SAS: Are You Tough Enough.
Some reality television programmes will pay you to appear in their shows, others will reward the winner. Though
some may not pay you, they may refund any expenses you incur such as loss of earnings, travelling costs, clothing,
etc.
Where you can make money from appearing on reality TV programmes is through the exposure in newspapers and magazines,
selling your story or giving TV or radio interviews. There are other opportunities such as appearing in panto like
Big Brother 4 winner Cameron Stout who has regularly acted at His Majesty's Theatre (HMT) Aberdeen each year. Some reality
television stars and celebrities have gone on to appear regularly on television screens in different programmes. One star
of Castaway, which was shown on BBC1 in 2000, was Ben Fogle. He now has a regular presenting job. He has appeared in shows such
as Crufts Dog Show, BBC Extreme Dreams, Cash In The Attic and Animal Park. Castaway I think is to be made in 2007 again but abroad
this time so get you application form in quick!
Disadvantages Of Appearing On TV
Reality Television producers will be filming and recording you 24 hours a day. At some stage you are bound to slip
up and say or do something you may not be proud of when you later come out of that unusual situation. No-one, other
than the other contestants, will know how extreme the situation was and may not empathise with you. Film and
sound can be edited carefully to show you in a certain light.
Going in blind to some reality TV programmes like Wife Swap might mean you get celebrity status, but you may have to live with someone like John McCririck or Edwina Currie!
Millions of people may have seen you and feel they know you personally and won't think twice about coming
over to tell you what they think of you or want to be your new best friend.
Appearing on It’s Me Or The Dog with Victoria Stilwell may alert your neighbours and friends into the bad and disgusting behaviour of your dog!
However if you feel you can cope with this then why not get involved. It could be fun, lucrative and give you
15 minutes of fame. You could end up a millionaire like Jade Goodey or find love like Chantelle! Jane Goodey is reported to have made over £8 million since appearing
on Big Brother and has become such a star that she entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2007 with her boyfriend Jack Tweedy and her mum Jackiey Budden. Even her
grandparents made an appearance on Celebrity Big Brother 5.
